I use 1/8 aluminum sheet to reinforce some parts and will buy a silicone AC heated pad for the bed. Love the idea and have considered doing similar myself.

I fixed the hot end to the standard Anet A8 carriage with Ty-Raps (which works great as a temporary solution, although I guess the quality will be lower ) and drilled a few holes in a piece of wood to attach the extruder motor to with the tube fitting that came with the e3d set.
